About Rich:

My career began in New Jersey where I was born and raised. I was interested in real estate at a young age. I sometimes believe it is in my blood, being a descendent of relatives on both sides of my family that were involved with real estate investments. I would have to say though that the purchase of my first home which ultimately turned into a very profitable rental property would likely be labeled as the beginning of my career. I purchased a number of others in New Jersey after that and continue to do so in North Carolina. Unlike many real estate professionals I began as an investor but realized "I really enjoy the ins and outs of real estate" and my work experience always involved assisting staff and/or helping clients/customers.

I worked for a Fortune 500 company for nearly 15 years and during some of that period kept a real estate license active so I could pursue it part time. After numerous promotions and company downsizings I was left with having to end the careers of my staff and accept a relocation or a severance package. I opted for the severance. The timing was not spectacular having a baby and young daughter at home but the real estate investments along with the severance provided some cushion. We had been considering moving anyway so this all worked into our plans.

One might wonder how I ended up in North Carolina from New Jersey and without a job to follow and in Cary of all places. Real estate was one reason of course and quite a bit of comparative research. I felt the New Jersey real estate market no longer offered what it did ten, even five years earlier and the Cary, North Carolina area offered huge potential. Cary is a wonderful place to raise children and has been recognized by many publications as one of the top towns in America for various reasons. So here I am along with my wife and children. I sold off all my real estate in New Jersey and am acquiring here now. I have also established RLB Real Estate. "RLB" is both "Reliable Licensed Broker" and my initials, Richard Lawrence Berg.

I am not only an investor but a provider of real estate services as well. This is not just a job but rather a passion that I enjoy discussing and sharing with others. I work harder than most when representing you and do not hesitate to share information that can assist with buying/selling and negotiating, and I thoroughly enjoy negotiating! My simple philosophy is buy right, sell right. I do not consider myself a real estate salesperson although I am a Realtor but rather I am an investor who helps others.
